Hydrafacial Review

I’m about to get real up close and personal with you all. Literally! It is talking every ounce of me to find the nerve to post these up close pictures of my bare skin for the whole world to see…well to at least those of you reading this. I have always had major skin issues. Horrible acne in my teenage years and most of my adult life, leaving me with scars and uneven skin tone as the result! It’s not pretty, and it’s not something you’re going to see on the front of a magazine labeled “glowing and flawless”. Honestly, it has caused me years of insecurity and it was almost crippling to me most of my life! As a teenager, I just caked on the makeup to try and mask it as much as I could, but nothing worked. I’ve tried hundreds of products to try and help with my skin issues. Some have helped a little, but never stopped my breakouts. The older I get the less breakouts I have, but I still get them. Thank you hormones and babies! I finally decided this year that I’m going to invest in my skin. It’s time! I’m going to take it more seriously, and I want to heal those areas that my acne reeked havoc on. Which brings us to today’s post….

facial

I went and had a Hydrafacial done this week at Genesis Hair and Day Spa in DeForest WI. I’m going to share my experience along with some details on the procedure with the hopes of helping others with their skin issues.

What Is a Hydrafacial

It’s a skin resurfacing treatment that cleanses, extracts and hydrates the skin with amazing results! It’s nourishing ingredients create an instant glow, and frequent treatments will restore your skin to it’s healthiest state.

How It Works

3 STEPS. 30 MINUTES. THE BEST SKIN OF YOUR LIFE.

Cleanse + Peel
Uncover a new layer of skin with gentle exfoliation and relaxing resurfacing.
Extract + Hydrate
Remove debris from pores with painless suction. Nourish with intense moisturizers that quench skin.
Fuse + Protect
Saturate the skin’s surface with antioxidants and peptides to maximize your glow.

There are also specialty serums picked based on your skin concerns that will really amp up your results. I personally had the Britenol Boost (reduces the appearance of dark spots and evens out skin tone) and the Growth Factor Boost (reduces fine lines and restores skin health and vitality) serums used in my facial.

You can have just one facial done if you’re trying to get a jumpstart on healthier skin, or you can have a series done for those of you with specific concerns you’re trying to reverse.

I’m hoping to get back in for more to really reverse those acne scars, and reduce the size of my pores.

Now on to the embarrassing pictures! You know I love you ladies and am committed when I put these pictures out there. But hey, if I can help someone else struggling with the same issues, it’s all worth it in my book!

Before Treatment (no makeup)

before facial

As you can see, I have a lot of scaring on my cheeks from my acne years, along with dark spots and uneven skin tone.

During Facial

during

It felt so amazing to have all the junk exfoliated from my skin! Kelsey did a fantastic job and explained everything so well.

Immediately After Facial

right after

This picture looks a little scary, but honestly it has to look a little scary before it can get better. Some people get more red than others, and my redness was completely gone after just a couple hours. This is a skin resurfacing treatment, so the machine is sluffing off all that dead skin and exfoliating those problem areas.

One Day After Facial (no makeup)

one day

This is the morning after my treatment, and as you can see my redness was completely gone. My pores looked so clean, and I couldn’t believe how soft and smooth my skin felt. You might not be able to see a huge difference here, but I could feel it and with more treatments, my results will be even better!

p.s. all of these pictures are completely unedited (despite my better judgement). I want you to see exactly what my skin looks like, and get the most honest review possible.

One Day After Facial (makeup)

after

The day after my facial, and my makeup went on like butter! It felt so good, and my makeup looked cleaner and less cakey. When we are putting our makeup over all that dead and dull skin, our makeup looks dull. I felt like my skin was glowing and looked so healthy!

Genesis also sent home some products from their Hydropeptide skincare line that will maximize my results, and tackle those problem areas. I’m so excited to use them and get in a routine of taking better care of my skin!

Closing Thoughts

I am so pleased with my results after only one treatment! My skin feels smoother, and my pores looked smaller. I will definitely be going back for more treatments and hopefully get rid of these acne scars all together!

If you are local in the Madison WI area, I highly suggest you check out Genesis Hair and Day Spa.  They are a full service salon, and have amazing spa treatments available. You can check out their website here for more info.

Hopefully you enjoyed this post, and please reach out to me, or Genesis if you have any questions!

  1. I think your skin looks gorgeous In the very first picture I saw . . . The one before you had anything done with no make up. Isn’t it interesting how we are so much our own worst critics??!! Xo

  2. You’re beautiful in the before pictures, also! But thank you for sharing! I have some acne scarring on my cheeks from when I was in my late teens! I had heard about hydrafacials but didn’t know what they consisted of! Thank you!

  3. Can I ask what Genesis spa charges for the hydra facial? I’ve had one done in my local area but I do go to the Madison area all the time for work so would definitely check them out.

    1. I’m honestly not sure on pricing becuse they have single session pricing along with bundle pricing for a series. I would call them at 608.846.5797 and ask their pricing. They also do free consultations!
