Deciding What Shoes To Pair With Jeans

I always get great requests from my readers on things to blog about. I love this because it helps me know exactly what you guys want to see! Todays topic was highly requested by my readers so I decided to go ahead and tackle it.

I get asked a lot…”How do I know what shoes pair best with different cut pants?” While I believe some of this is personal preference, just like a lot of fashion is. I do think that there is some rule of thumb to it, and that’s what we will go over today. By no means am I an expert when it comes to this subject, but I have done some research and hopefully these ideas will help you guys be able to pick out your shoes easily.

#1 Skinny Jeans

Skinny jeans go with any and every type of shoe. They can be dressed up with heels, or dressed down with sneakers. Not a lot of thought has to go into this one. Grab your skinny jeans, and pair with any of your favorite shoes!

*Styling Tip* I get asked all the time on how to pair booties with skinny jeans. I only ever wear my booties with skinny jeans, and I always cuff my jeans right above the top of the boot so a tiny bit of my ankle is showing. Its totally up to you on how wide or skinny you want the cuff on your jeans to be. I find it usually depends on how long my jeans are. If they are super long, I will make a bigger cuff, or fold them a couple times. If they are more ankle length, I tend to only cuff once into a smaller cuff.

#2 Boyfriend Jeans

Boyfriend jeans are usually seen paired with sneakers for a more casual look. That’s the way I wear mine the most. But, I also often see them paired with a fun pair of heels and a blouse or blazer for a fun night out look.

#3 Boot Cut Jeans

Boot Cut looks great with flats. I think that will be the most paired shoe with this cut, but they do also look great with heels. I would stay away from pairing these with tall boots only because they look a little too baggy tucked into jeans.

#4 Flare Jeans

I love that flare jeans are making a comeback. I have a couple pairs, and I love that they look a little dressier than my every day jeans. I think flares definitely need to be paired with the right shoe. For us tall ladies, flats are going to be your best bet. But for you shorter ladies, I think flares look best paired with heeled booties or wedges. This really lengthens your legs, and gives the appearance you’re taller.

I hope this post has been helpful, and that you now have some fresh ideas on how to pick out your shoes. If you are ever looking for inspiration on what shoes to wear, Pinterest is a great place to look. Whenever I am in a style rut, this is where I find great style inspiration.

Have you ever done a blog/FB post on what/how to style colored shoes? I so badly want the wine colored sneakers on your FB page, but besides one similar color cardigan I’m not sure what else to wear with them. I love how animal print flats are a great neutral but I just can’t do those for some reason. I’m trying to branch out of my shoe fashion nightmare but think I need some guidance in the color world. Thanks!!!

    1. Hi Heather! I think you can wear colored shoes with lots of things. Think of them as your pop of color. So when wear neutral colors such as white, grey, black etc. Add those burgundy sneakers and you are good to go. They also go great with other fall colors. I love wearing olive and burgundy together. Navy and burgundy look great together too. Lots of options! Does that help?
