Alight ladies, let’s talk ponchos! Either you love them, or you hate them. I happen to LOVE them! I had this one poncho when I was in middle school that I thought was the coolest thing on the block. I loved that thing, and thought I was totally styling when I wore it haha. When I got to high school and looked back at pictures of me wearing my beloved poncho I thought to myself….”Mom why would you ever let me leave the house wearing that thing?” They were so not cool in high school, but like all great things, they come back around and I am loving it! I think stepping out and taking the plunge is hard for some, so I’m hoping this will help give some ideas on how amazing and versatile they are!
Pictured above is a wrap/poncho. I got this beauty at Wal-Mart for $13. I tell you what, Wal-Mart is really stepping up their game. I’ve been so impressed with their clothes section lately. They had several other color options as well. This is a fun option to add a little color and style to your basic everyday outfit. Throw on and you’re ready to rock!
You may have seen pictures going around on Pinterest of this gorgeous stripe poncho. I know that’s where I first saw it, and pinned right away. I loved the concept but wasn’t sure I could pull off like the model on Pinterest….let’s be real, everyone looks good on Pinterest 😉 I found this one on a resale page on Facebook for $26 and decided to give it a go. I totally love it! Even if my husband thinks I look crazy haha. It is so warm and cozy, and you can throw it on over any plain colored long sleeve and go. One of my closet favorites right now!
If you live somewhere cold like I do, then layering your ponchos is going to be a must! I love pairing them with turtlenecks. Again, you wouldn’t catch me dead in a turtleneck in high school. But I have to say, I sure do love layering with them now. They have grown on me! This lovely black sweater poncho is so warm, and I love that it zips in the front. I scored this one at Marshalls last season for $20.
Fringe and a poncho in one!!!!!! Im in love!!!! This is my favorite one of all. I bought this from a boutique online and I adore how it fits. I love fringe, so when I saw this I had to jump on it! I love how it’s tight fitting in the arms and loose everywhere else. It’s a very flattering cut.
Short sleeve ponchos are great layering pieces. I’m all about the layering right now if you couldn’t tell. Have fun with this one. Throw on over a button up, a long sleeve, a turtleneck, prints, solids, pretty much anything! It’s a cute add on piece to any outfit.
Casual ponchos are great! If you are wanting just a simple cozy piece that looks amazing at the same time, then go get yourself a lightweight everyday poncho. This is a Jennifer Lopez poncho tunic I got for $8 at a resale shop. It’s very lightweight and can be dressed up or down. I paired with a scarf and duck boots for a more casual look, but if you want to dress it up, you can pair with booties and a statement necklace! I love having pieces in my closet that are versatile. I could wear this grocery shopping, and to a play date. Or I can dress it up for Church or a date night with Hubby.
I saved the best for last! I just bought this lovely grey mock turtleneck poncho a couple weeks ago at Marshalls. I bought specifically to wear with these leather leggings for a Christmas party. I love how it has pockets….Perfect to keep my lipstick close! You can pair this with any leggings or skinny jeans. I was just looking for an excuse to wear these awesome faux leather leggings! 😉
So, have I sold you on Ponchos, or are you still on the fence? I would love some feedback from my readers on how you wear yours. If you have any questions for me, then comment below. Have a fantastic Monday! Xo

They look adorable on you, but that style is so much harder to pull off for short girls!
Hi Amber! Thank you for the compliment! I’m so glad you posted. I know heights can totally play a part in this style. I would say just keep searching until you find that perfect one. The short sleeve poncho I am wearing in the post is actually right at my waist and on the shorter side. It would definitely work on a shorter gal. I find that I love the different styles that Marshalls has, and if you keep searching and trying on, I know you will find one that’s perfect for you! 🙂 xo
